Group Lessons

Back

Fun, friendly group lessons for both puppies and older dogs.

  • Positive & motivational methods: treats, toys, verbal praise and cuddles are used to get the dogs’ tails wagging.
  • Dogs work because they enjoy it, not because they are forced to (there is no harsh treatment or equipment).
  • No more than 7 dogs per class, so everyone receives plenty of individual help.

You can find details of the different classes available in the table below.

Puppy Starters (for puppies aged up to 20 weeks)
Adult Starters (for dogs aged over 20 weeks)
Improvers (for dogs of any age)

Class What will you learn? Length & cost of course

Puppy Starters
(for puppies aged up to 20 weeks)

By the end of the Puppy Starters course your puppy will have learned that training is fun! He (or she) will know how to sit, lie down, come when he is called, walk on the lead without pulling and to ignore food and other distractions when he is told to. Most importantly he will enjoy doing so.

Clicker training will be used for most exercises.

He will also have learned some social skills from the controlled off-lead play sessions in every lesson. These play sessions will be between carefully chosen pairs of puppies – we do not let all the puppies off the lead to play at the same time.

7 weeks - £75

Adult Starters
(for dogs aged over 20 weeks)

The Adult Starters course is for new rescue dogs and for older puppies or dogs that may not have had any formal training.

By the end of the Adult Starters Class your dog will have learned that training is fun! He (or she) will know how to sit, lie down, come when he is called, walk on the lead without pulling and to ignore food and other distractions when he is told to. Most importantly he will enjoy doing so.

Clicker training will be used for most exercises.

7 weeks - £75

Improvers
(for dogs of any age)

For puppies and adult dogs that have completed a ‘Starters’ course or have a similar level of training.

The aim of the Improvers course is to teach you and your dog more advanced skills to help you be in control in any situation. The classes are for dogs and owners that enjoy training and want to carry on improving.

We will introduce you and your dog to distance control and emergency stops. We will also introduce the idea of finding his own toy rather than someone else’s toy. Finally we will continue to improve sits, downs and walking to heel off-lead, even when there are lots of distractions. All new exercises in the Improvers course are taught using clicker training.

7 weeks - £75

Teach a Trick - clicker training
(for dogs of any age)

For dogs and owners who want to learn some fun tricks. Come along and teach your dog a range of tricks including how to close a door, leopard crawl, bow and to play dead! If you have particular trick in mind then just let us know and we will help you teach your dog how to do it.

7 weeks - £75

Introduction to Fun Agility
(for dogs aged over 12 months)

[Also available Agility Improvers]

This course will introduce you and your dog to the key elements of dog agility. Agility is a dog sport in which a handler directs a dog through an obstacle course in a race for both time and accuracy. The obstacles are many and varied, including jumps, tunnels, see-saws and weave poles. The ‘Introduction to Fun Agility’ course will teach you and your dog how to negotiate each of the key obstacles and how to direct your dog round a simple course.

7 weeks - £65

Rally
(for dogs of any age)

[Also available Rally Improvers]

This course will introduce you and your dog to the key elements of the relatively new dog sport, rally. Rally is a bit like a mixture between agility and formal obedience. It is suitable for any breed and any age of dog (assuming that they have had some basic training).

The dog and handler team navigate a course with numbered signs indicating different exercises to perform such as ‘Sit Down Sit’, ‘Staight figure of 8’, ‘Send over Jump’ and ‘Left Turn’. Teams navigate the course at a brisk continuous performance without direction from the judge.

Handlers are encouraged to talk to their dogs during the performance, and the aim is that both dogs and handlers have fun and enjoy themselves.
